Well, I've got a lot of works in progress going. Hoping to finish them all up by Halloween, hopefully this year's Halloween! I'm working on improving skills as a artist, expanding my subject matter, and just to keep on learning with each new painting I do. I would like to think I'm getting to a higher level these days, but I am so far from where I could ever be happy with my ability right now. I'll just keep on working at it and maybe I'll get there someday. If not, good.
Hey everybody! I've been sketching a ton of Halloween themed stuff lately, and a ton of everything really. Here's one of the somewhat Halloweenie sketches that I started painting in class yesterday and finished up last night. It was mainly a test of texture and control, all with one brush. It's got a ways to go yet, but we all know that a painting is never really "finished." Enjoy!
Well, here are a few more recent sketches. I have to say though, that I enjoy drawing cartoony stuff more than the detailed stuff that takes much longer. There is a certain appeal in creating both detailed and time consuming things as well as the much more simplified forms. It's rewarding to finally get done with the super-detailed pieces when it works out, but it might be even more rewarding to just put down a few lines and get the same feeling for the form and character...and most of the time you get much more appeal.
